BMW Motorrad and Roland Sands Design cooperate. Exclusive customizing parts for the BMW R nineT.
Munich, Germany - December 18, 2014 - With the introduction of the BMW Concept 90 in 2013, Roland Sands Design showed the potential of customizing an actual BMW bike. Since then Roland Sands Design and BMW Motorrad worked closely to make special custom parts available to the BMW Motorrad customers. With this new cooperation it's now possible for BMW Motorrad customers worldwide to purchase Roland Sands Design parts. To begin with, Roland Sands Design offers high-quality customizing parts for BMW Motorrad's unique roadster, the R nineT. The parts will be available for delivery at the end of February 2015.

ElectRx Has the Nerve to Envision Revolutionary Therapies for Self-Healing
DARPA, USA - December 11, 2014 - DARPA's Electrical Prescriptions (ElectRx, pronounced "electrics") program aims to develop groundbreaking technologies that would use the body's innate neurophysiology to restore and maintain health. ElectRx would leverage advanced sensing and stimulating technologies to target specific peripheral neural circuits that control organ functions. These feedback-controlled neuromodulation technologies would monitor health status and intervene as needed to deliver patient-specific therapeutic patterns of stimulation designed to restore a healthy physiological state. The program seeks to create ultraminiaturized devices that would require only minimally invasive insertion procedures such as injectable delivery through a needle. DARPA is seeking innovative research proposals to help transform neuromodulation therapies from last resort to first choice for a wide range of diseases.

Lockheed Martin Receives JASSM Contract For Additional Finnish Air Force F-18 Integration
Orlando, Fla., USA - Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) received a $13.3 million Foreign Military Sales contract in November from the U.S. Air Force to support additional integration of the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM) onto the Finnish Air Force F-18C/D aircraft. This third contract for Finland includes wind tunnel models and test support, software development completion, logistics support and engineering documentation. All work under this contract will be completed by third quarter 2016.

Raytheon AMRAAM and NASAMS showcased in Thor's Hammer exercise
VIDSEL TEST RANGE, Sweden - December 8, 2014 - Armed forces from Norway, Finland, Switzerland and Turkey successfully fired five Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) - built Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) AIM-120C7s as part of the Thor's Hammer flight test campaign in September. Launched from F-16 and F/A-18 fighter aircraft and the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) ground launchers, the missiles achieved five successful shots on a variety of profiles and targets. Norway shot one AIM-120C7 from a NASAMS High Mobility Launcher and Finland shot two from a NASAMS canister launcher, while Switzerland successfully fired one from an F-18 and Turkey fired one from an F-16.

Boeing Conducts World's First Flight with 'Green Diesel' as Aviation Biofuel
Seattle, USA - December 03, 2014 - Boeing (NYSE: BA) has completed the world's first flight using "green diesel," a sustainable biofuel that is widely available and used in ground transportation. The company powered its ecoDemonstrator 787 flight test airplane yesterday with a blend of 15 percent green diesel and 85 percent petroleum jet fuel in the left engine.

Alcatel-Lucent and Cinia Group to deploy 1,100 km undersea cable system linking Finland to Germany
Paris, France - December 03, 2014 - Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) and Cinia Group, previously Corenet - the Finnish Government-owned venture, will deploy an undersea cable system that will provide the first direct cable link between the Nordic region and continental Europe. The project, named Sea Lion, calls for the deployment of a new 100G system that will span more than 1,100 km from Helsinki in Finland, to the Rostock-Ribnitz area in Germany. Expected to be completed in early 2016, the system will play a critical role in strengthening the provision of reliable and secure ultra-broadband connectivity for cloud and data center applications.

Polish team wins the second edition of International Team Programming Contest Marathon24
Warsaw, Poland - December 01, 2014 - The Grand Final of the second edition of international team programming contest Marathon24 was held on Saturday and Sunday, November 29 and 30, 2014 in Pomeranian Science and Technology Park Gdynia. Poles turned out to be the best. The Grand Final lasted continuously for 24 hours and was won by the team "SajchoModzajtoSajgon". The second place was taken also by Poles - team "Last Minute" and in the team from Czech Republic was in the third place. Edition 2014 attracted more than 1600 coders representing 49 countries from 5 continents.

Warszawa - 27-30 listopada 2014 - "Nie oczekujemy przywilejów i ulg, damy sobie radę bez nich, ale oczekujemy równego traktowania małych i dużych, a także polskich i zagranicznych pomiotów gospodarczych. Małym rodzinnym podmiotom trudno jest konkurować z wielkimi inwestorami, którzy najpierw otrzymują najlepsze lokalizacje pod budowę swoich zakładów, a później płacą podatki nie w naszym kraju. Nie chcemy płacić niższych podatków. Chcemy płacić wyższe, ale nie przez wzrost stóp podatkowych, tylko przez rozwój naszych firm. Bo to jedyna zdrowa droga do dobrobytu społeczeństwa. Jednak, aby tak się stało, potrzebujemy wolności gospodarczej mierzonej choćby indeksem Instytutu Frasera w Vancouverze. Jej wzrost nie wymaga nakładów finansowych, a jedynie woli politycznej koniecznej do uzdrowienia prawa i strzegących go instytucji. Od lat Polska pozostaje w tej sferze w tyle rozwiniętych gospodarek świata, podczas gdy daleko wyprzedzają nas takie kraje jak Gruzja i Armenia. Aby móc tego wszystkiego oczekiwać my firmy rodzinne musimy mieć dość siły, aby stać się elektoratem zdolnym chronić polityków gotowych do przeprowadzenia reform. Nie chcemy być silni, aby się nas bano. Chcemy być silni by dać wsparcie tym, którym nie zabraknie determinacji by położyć swoją polityczną karierę na szali, ryzykując niepopularne zmiany. Tej właśnie determinacji oczekujemy od polityków. Resztę zrobimy my - polscy rodzinni przedsiębiorcy. Bo przecież po to jesteśmy." - stwierdził prof. dr hab. Andrzej Blikle, Prezes stowarzyszenia Inicjatywa Firm Rodzinnych.

Poland's NCBJ thermal-to-14 MeV neutron converter is a sole device of its kind operated in the world
National Centre for Nuclear Research, Poland - November 20, 2014 - National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) experts in Poland have designed and developed a continuous-mode source of fast neutrons of energy 14 MeV fed by thermal neutrons produced by the MARIA research reactor in Świerk. Parameters of the reactor-converter combination are good enough to practically use the produced flux of fast neutrons to test various constructional materials necessary to successfully develop 4th generation nuclear reactors and thermonuclear reactors expected to produce majority of energy consumed by mankind in the future. The converter is the sole facility of its kind operated in the world. It will be used to irradiate various materials to test them as constructional materials needed for development of 4th generation nuclear reactors and/or thermonuclear facilities.

Inauguration of the Permanent Secretariat for Cooperation between China and Central Eastern Europe Countries in Warsaw
Warsaw, Poland - November 19-20, 2014 - Warsaw hosted the inauguration of the Permanent Secretariat for Cooperation between China and Central Eastern Europe Countries. The establishment of the Secretariat for Cooperation between China and Central Eastern Europe Countries is the next step of so-called the "Warsaw Initiative" that was introduced in April 2012 during the visit of recent Chinese prime minister Wen Jiabao to Poland. One of the highlight of the visit was a creation of frameworks of the future cooperation between China and 16 countries of the CEE region. While the decision regarding the arrangement of the Secretariat's founding meeting in Warsaw was made in September 2014 in Xiamen, China, during the congress of investment promotion agencies of China in CEE. Except Poland, among the European participants of the Initiative there are: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Hungary. Poland is the largest European country participating in the Initiative.
