U.S. and Japan Companies Collaborate on Smart Grid Project in Hawaii
Tokyo, Japan - May 17, 2011 - Hitachi, Ltd., Cyber Defense Institute, Inc., JFE Engineering Corporation, Sharp Corporation, Hewlett-Packard Japan, Ltd., and Mizuho Corporate Bank, Ltd. today announced that U.S. and Japan companies have been selected as contractors for joint "Project" collaboration supporting a world-leading Smart Grid project on Maui, a Hawaiian island that will serve as the Project site. The Project will be spearheaded by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization ("NEDO"). Hitachi will take a leading role and coordinate the entire project, serving as the project leader.

Toshiba Acquires Landis+Gyr for US$2.3 Billion

Mitsubishi Corporation: Financial Results for the Year Ended March 2011
Tokyo, Japan - May 10, 2011 - Mitsubishi Corporation. Consolidated operating transactions for the year ended March 2011 increased 2,130.7 billion yen, or 12.5%, year on year to 19,233.4 billion yen. Gross profit rose 133.3 billion yen, or 13.1%, to 1,149.9 billion yen due to rising prices for coking coal and other resources, and to strong sales in steel products and automobile-related operations.
