Berkshire Hathaway's, Warren Buffett's company, reported a 29% jump in third-quarter profit
Omaha, NE, USA - November 01, 2013 - Berkshire Hathaway's (BRK.A; BRK.B), reported a 29% jump in third-quarter profit as it collected some of the proceeds from deals made during the financial crisis. Warren Buffett's company earned $5.05 billion, or $3,074 per Class A share, during the quarter. That's up from $3.92 billion, or $2,373 per Class A share, in the same period last year. Berkshire Hathaway and its subsidiaries engage in diverse business activities including property and casualty insurance and reinsurance, utilities and energy, freight rail transportation, finance, manufacturing, retailing and services.

Reel FX Relies on Dell End-to-End Technology to Create First Feature-Length Film, "Free Birds"

Microsoft's largest scale education agreement will help boost skills for 4 million students in Sao Paulo state network
Sao Paolo, Brazil - November 01, 2013 - On Thursday, Microsoft announced an agreement with the Sao Paolo State Department of Education (SEE) to offer Office 365 free of charge to more than 4 million students from the state education network through the Student Advantage program. This joint initiative with the SEE represents an investment of almost $900 million, based on the individual subscription costs for Office 365. Student Advantage will be available as of December 1 for all educational institutions with an Office 365 ProPlus or Office Professional Plus license for its administrative and faculty staff. In Brazil, the Sao Paolo State Department of Education will be the first to reap the benefits of Student Advantage, offering its students access to the complete version of Office 365 ProPlus at no additional cost. Students from the state education network will be able to use Office 365 tools on up to five devices, including smartphones and tablets.

Philips terminates agreement to transfer Audio, Video, Multimedia and Accessories business to Funai following breach of contract
Amsterdam, the Netherlands - October 25, 2013 - Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) today announced that it will terminate the agreement with Funai Electric Co., Ltd (TSE/OSE 6839) for the transfer of its Audio, Video, Multimedia and Accessories business, following breach of contract by Funai. Philips will take legal action to recover damages caused by Funai. Philips will proceed to investigate other opportunities for the Audio, Video, Multimedia and Accessories business, while continuing to run this business within Philips operating with a significantly lower cost structure, as a standalone entity called WOOX Innovations.

Samsung LNG Carriers Powered and Propelled by General Electric Power Conversion
Busan, Korea - October 24, 2013 - Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is one of the fastest growing energy markets worldwide, and global production capacity could be more than double by the end of the decade. Higher natural gas prices and growing efficiencies in the LNG value chain are making it economically attractive to ship LNG over long distances, transforming natural gas from a regional to a global market. GE's Power Conversion business (NYSE: GE) is working closely together as a partner with the Power & Control Systems division (PCSD) of Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). Power Conversion has been appointed to equip four LNG carriers to be built by SHI at its Geoje facility in South Korea.
