Tours & attractions
It perhaps comes as little surprise that the best things to do in Punta del Este are outside! Numerous beach activities, horse riding, golf, walking, watersports and sailing are all on your doorstep and a great way to enjoy the sunshine too.
There's also plenty for wildlife fans such as the seal colony on the nearby Isla de los Lobos and both the Parque Municipal Zoologico Medina (zoo) and Zoologico Pan de Azucar (nature reserve) - ideal for families with small children.
Art & culture
For culture fans, you definitely have to go to La Casa Pueblo which is a magnificent resort-come -museum situated just outside Punta del Este. There's also the Museo Ralli showcasing the best Latin American art or maybe the historical monuments of Catedral San fernando, the Cuartel de Dragones or the Marco de los Reyes in the Plaza Torre del Vigia. Finally, we recommend a visit to the charming Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria Victorian Church.
Shopping
Located in the centre of the Penninsula is Calle Gorlero where you will find everything and anything you could want from souvenirs to design labels.
Meanwhile, the largest shopping centre can be found on Av. Roosevelt where once again you'll be spoilt for choice.
Landscape
The main beach in Punta del Este is Playa de Los Dedos located in La Barra and is widely regarded as 'the place to be seen'.
It's also really worth enjoying a stroll along the port of Punta del Este and watching the sunset whilst enjoying some fresh seafood.

“There’s going to be super-close racing because you can brake really late,” he said.
“Having seen the Beijing track layout, it looks like there’s going to be lots of overtaking opportunities and with the Fan Boost system you will have to be really strategic with the way that you use it. Obviously you can save on some laps and then use extra energy on the other laps, so an energy saving strategy is going to be very important during the race and I think you’ll see a lot of drivers looking for and creating chances and making an opportunistic move on the inside into a corner.”

“It’s very different from what I expected and I think the main reason being that I didn’t really know what to expect! Obviously everything is different from every other Formula car you’re used to. It’s got a very different type of tyre, which is a significant difference. It’s hard to explain to someone who hasn’t driven Formula cars, but the construction of the tyres make the tyre very stiff, which I would say is even more influential than the fact that it’s a grooved tyre. It’s got no sidewall and has a very big diameter – 18 inch – and so the sidewall is very stiff and that makes the car very stiff.”

“I think Formula E might well be the future of racing,” he said.
“Sustainability and environmental responsibility is something that is very high on the agenda for racing but also in daily life and I think this is a great initiative. Now it’s something I’ve had a chance to get a taste of after driving the car I’ve become more excited and convinced about having such a series.”
