A few early reactions on the Nokia N97 following the device's unveiling on 2 December 2008 at Nokia World, Barcelona.
Nokia today announced its newest Nseries handset - the Nokia N97. This new offering from Nokia will feature a beautiful 3.5″ touch display combined with a tilt-out full QWERTY keyboard and will run the newest version of Symbian S60. The new handset from the Finnish mobile phone giant is being called the first “true mobile computer” and with that description, they’ve hit the nail on the head.

Nokia just announced the Nokia N97. I got a chance to play with it last night and realized they have built the ultimate Facebook device. Now, I’m sure, lots of you will wonder how it compares to the iPhone. Well, for a Facebook user it isn’t even close: the new Nokia device wins hands down.

Let’s take a minute to cue in screams of joy and laughter. Done? Ok then, breathe in, breathe out. Let’s go! We already brought you news of the Nokia countdown timer that was hinting at a big annoucement today during Nokia World, but of course we had no clue it would be THIS big. Right now, Olli Pekka Kallasvuo and Anssi Vanjoki are announcing the new Nokia Nseries flagship that will leave thousands of people drooling in front of their screens. The Nokia N97 is here, and boy are we excited to see it! The Nokia N97 is so many “first”s for Nokia that I really don’t know where to start from.

The early prototypes displayed are quite promising, the device design is a practical compromise between form and function, and Nokia is demonstrating working devices with fairly complete software today, a full 6 months before their intended shipping date.
