The US federal state of California Issues 29 Permits to Test Autonomous Driving Cars to Lexus, Mercedes and Audi
Sunnyvale, California, USA - September 18, 2014 - The US federal state of California issued its first 29 permits this week to three companies to test autonomous driving cars on public roads. Google Inc. got permits for testing 25 adapted Lexus SUVs, and two permits each went to Mercedes-Benz and Audi. Audi was the first to apply for the permits. The automaker was then followed by Daimler and then Google. On "Senate Bill No. 1298" taking effect, Mercedes-Benz received a corresponding licence permitting it to test vehicles in autonomous driving mode in daily traffic on California's roads. For Mercedes-Benz, which has been resident in Silicon Valley for almost 20 years now, this represents a further expansion of the company's extensive research activities in the USA.

Inaugural Formula E: Lucas di Grassi snatches win after dramatic last corner crash
Beijing, China - September 13, 2014 - Audi Sport ABT's Lucas di Grassi stole victory in the inaugural Formula E Evergrande Spring Beijing ePrix after Nicolas Prost and Nick Heidfeld crashed in a last corner battle for the lead. Heidfeld walked away unscathed from a nasty looking incident after contact with Prost left him unable to control the car and flipped into the tyre barrier. As the pair approached the final corner the Venturi driver dived up the inside in an attempt to the take the lead. The Frenchman moved left to defend and inevitably lead to their wheels colliding. After a dream start in the first ever Formula E race in Beijing, Lucas di Grassi begins his title assault on the Barcelona World Cup.

BMW is 'Official Vehicle Partner' of the FIA Formula E Championship - BMW i8 and BMW i3 in action

U.S. Government Gives Green Light to Lockheed Martin Team's JLTV Production Plans
Camden, Arkansas, USA - September 05, 2014 - The Lockheed Martin Team's (NYSE: LMT) Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) program successfully completed the government's Production Readiness Review (PRR) at the company's Camden, Arkansas, Ground Vehicle Assembly facility. During the PRR event, the team assembled a JLTV on its production line to further demonstrate production readiness. The Lockheed Martin Team had successfully completed a government Manufacturing Readiness Assessment at the Camden site late last year. As the only contractor in the JLTV competition to have won a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for Manufacturing Excellence, Lockheed Martin will perform final assembly of JLTV at the Camden facility with support from long-time military vehicle manufacturer and partner BAE Systems. Amazon.com to Acquire Twitch for $970 million in cash
Seattle, USA - August 25, 2014 - Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) today announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire Twitch Interactive, Inc., the leading live video platform for gamers. Drugi polski satelita naukowy "Heweliusz" już na orbicie
Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, China oraz Pekin, Chiny - 21 sierpnia 2014 - W dniu 19 sierpnia 2014 roku, planowo o godz. 3:15:00 czasu UTC czyli o 5:15:00 czasu polskiego (środkowoeuropejskiego CET) chińska rakieta Long March-4B wyniosła na orbitę okołoziemską drugiego polskiego satelitę naukowego BRITE-PL "Heweliusz". Rakieta Long March-4B została wystrzelona z kosmodromu Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, 600 km na południowy zachód od stolicy Chin. Za start rakiety odpowiadał główny organizator chińskiego programu kosmicznego China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). Polski satelita BRITE-PL "Heweliusz" został wystrzelony na podstawie kontraktu zawartego przez Polskie Konsorcjum Projektu BRITE i chińską firmę China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC). W skład Polskiego Konsorcjum Projektu BRITE wchodzą: Centrum Badań Kosmicznych PAN oraz Centrum Astronomiczne PAN im. M. Kopernika. Do manewru odłączenia satelity od rakiety wykorzystany został polski wyrzutnik "Dragon" również opracowany i wykonany przez inżynierów z CBK PAN.

Warszawa - 20 sierpnia 2014 - "Gdyby MON poinformował oferenta z Francji, że skoro Francja ma zamiar dostarczyć Mistrale do Rosji, to MON nie będzie rozpatrywał oferty z Francji na dostawę rakietowego systemu obrony przeciwlotniczej, to może stanowisko w sprawie Mistrali uległoby zmianie, a sankcje wobec Rosji stałyby się bardziej zdecydowane. Gdyby wcześniej skorzystano z pomysłu Aleksandra Gudzowatego, to dzisiaj mielibyśmy dodatkowy łącznik gazowy pomiędzy systemem przesyłu gazu w Polsce i Unii Europejskiej. Gdyby wprowadzić zasady FIDIC przy realizacji kontraktów na duże i skomplikowane inwestycje infrastrukturalne, to można by uniknąć masowych bankructw firm budowlanych oraz ich poddostawców, a takie inwestycje realizowane byłyby dużo sprawniej i efektywniej. Gdyby wprowadzić stanowczy zakaz budownictwa, w tym mieszkalnego, na terenach zalewowych, to skutki sezonowych powodzi byłyby zdecydowanie mniejsze. Gdyby od początku ograniczono i efektywnie kontrolowano możliwości praktycznie nieograniczonej inwigilacji i podsłuchów, jakie mają niezliczone służby specjalne w Polsce, to prawdopodobieństwo 'afery taśmowej' byłoby istotnie zminimalizowane." - pisze dr Hubert A.
