Poland's NCBJ thermal-to-14 MeV neutron converter is a sole device of its kind operated in the world
National Centre for Nuclear Research, Poland - November 20, 2014 - National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) experts in Poland have designed and developed a continuous-mode source of fast neutrons of energy 14 MeV fed by thermal neutrons produced by the MARIA research reactor in Świerk. Parameters of the reactor-converter combination are good enough to practically use the produced flux of fast neutrons to test various constructional materials necessary to successfully develop 4th generation nuclear reactors and thermonuclear reactors expected to produce majority of energy consumed by mankind in the future. The converter is the sole facility of its kind operated in the world. It will be used to irradiate various materials to test them as constructional materials needed for development of 4th generation nuclear reactors and/or thermonuclear facilities.

Inauguration of the Permanent Secretariat for Cooperation between China and Central Eastern Europe Countries in Warsaw
Warsaw, Poland - November 19-20, 2014 - Warsaw hosted the inauguration of the Permanent Secretariat for Cooperation between China and Central Eastern Europe Countries. The establishment of the Secretariat for Cooperation between China and Central Eastern Europe Countries is the next step of so-called the "Warsaw Initiative" that was introduced in April 2012 during the visit of recent Chinese prime minister Wen Jiabao to Poland. One of the highlight of the visit was a creation of frameworks of the future cooperation between China and 16 countries of the CEE region. While the decision regarding the arrangement of the Secretariat's founding meeting in Warsaw was made in September 2014 in Xiamen, China, during the congress of investment promotion agencies of China in CEE. Except Poland, among the European participants of the Initiative there are: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Hungary. Poland is the largest European country participating in the Initiative.

Halliburton And Baker Hughes Reach Agreement To Combine In Stock And Cash Transaction Valued At USD 34.6 Billion
Houston, USA - November 17, 2014 - Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL) and Baker Hughes Incorporated (NYSE: BHI) today announced a definitive agreement under which Halliburton will acquire all the outstanding shares of Baker Hughes in a stock and cash transaction. The transaction is valued at $78.62 per Baker Hughes share, representing an equity value of $34.6 billion and enterprise value of $38.0 billion, based on Halliburton's closing price on November 12, 2014, the day prior to public confirmation by Baker Hughes that it was in talks with Halliburton regarding a transaction. Upon the completion of the transaction, Baker Hughes stockholders will own approximately 36 percent of the combined company. The agreement has been unanimously approved by both companies' Boards of Directors. The transaction combines two highly complementary suites of products and services into a comprehensive offering to oil and natural gas customers. On a pro-forma basis the combined company had 2013 revenues of $51.8 billion, more than 136,000 employees and operations in more than 80 countries around the world.

U.S. Department of Energy Awards USD425 Million for Next Generation Supercomputing Technologies
Washington, D.C., USA - November 14, 2014 - U.S. Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz today announced two new High Performance Computing (HPC) awards to put the nation on a fast-track to next generation exascale computing, which will help to advance U.S. leadership in scientific research and promote America's economic and national security. Secretary Moniz announced $325 million to build two state-of-the-art supercomputers at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories. The joint Collaboration of Oak Ridge, Argonne, and Lawrence Livermore (CORAL) was established in early 2014 to leverage supercomputing investments, streamline procurement processes and reduce costs to develop supercomputers that will be five to seven times more powerful when fully deployed than today's fastest systems in the U.S. In addition, Secretary Moniz also announced approximately $100 million to further develop extreme scale supercomputing technologies as part of a research and development program titled FastForward 2.

Deutsche Telekom sets up one of the largest investment funds in Europe
Bonn, Germany - November 11, 2014 - Deutsche Telekom is to considerably expand the scope and volume of its investments in venture capital and technological innovation. The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Telekom AG has approved the setup of a specialist team of investment managers in a newly formed company called Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners (DTCP). Deutsche Telekom plans for DTCP to have a fund volume of EUR 500 million for a 5-year period on top of the existing investments in T-Venture. This doubles the Group's commitment to investments in ventures and innovation. DTCP will be one of the largest investment funds in Europe. DTCP will also advise Deutsche Telekom on existing investments in STRATO, Interactive Media, Scout, Deutsche Telekom Innovation Pool (TIP) and T-Venture.

First-of-Its-Kind Survey Finds USD23 Billion Global Market for Conservation Investing, with USD2 Billion from Private Investors
Arlington, VA, USA - The first-ever survey of conservation impact investing reveals a fast-growing market totaling approximately $23 billion in the five-year period from 2009-2013. During the same period, private investments accounted for almost $2 billion of this market-an amount that is growing at an average of 26 percent annually, and is expected to reach more than $5.6 billion by 2018. Investing in Conservation: A landscape assessment of an emerging market is the first data-driven study of the market for conservation-related investments based on direct feedback from investors. The report was co-authored by EKO Asset Management Partners and The Nature Conservancy's NatureVest division. It was overseen by a steering committee that also included the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, and JPMorgan Chase & Co. The report presents findings from a survey of 56 investors, including five for-profit and nonprofit development finance institutions (DFIs) and 51 private investment organizations. Siemens to sell hearing aid business to EQT and Struengmann family for EUR2.15 Billion
Berlin, Germany - November 06, 2014 - Siemens is selling Siemens Audiology Solutions to the investment company EQT and Germany's Struengmann family of entrepreneurs as co-investor for EUR2.15 billion plus an earn-out component. Due to the very attractive offer made by the two investors, Siemens has decided not to further pursue preparations for the public listing it announced in May. Siemens reinvests EUR200 million in preferred equity. Transaction closing expected in first quarter of calendar 2015. EQT is a growth-oriented investment company managing around EUR22 billion in assets and with proven expertise in the healthcare and medical engineering sector. EQT is also the owner of LBX, one of the largest pharmacy chains in China's growth market. Germany's Struengmann family of entrepreneurs is also known for its focus on long-term growth. In 1986, the family founded Hexal, which has since become Germany's leading provider of generic drugs.

U.S. Navy and Lockheed Martin Deliver Third MUOS Secure Communications Satellite for Mobile Warfighters
Sunnyvale, Calif., USA - November 06, 2014 - The U.S. Navy and Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] have delivered the third Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) spacecraft to Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida, where it will be prepared for a January 2015 liftoff aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket. MUOS operates like a smart phone cell tower in the sky, vastly improving current secure mobile satellite communications for warfighters on the move. MUOS-3's safe transport to Cape Canaveral Air Force Station began from Lockheed Martin's Sunnyvale, California, facility to nearby Moffett Federal Airfield. There, the 60th Air Mobility Wing of Travis Air Force Base loaded the satellite aboard a C-5 aircraft for final shipment on November 5.

Ford Announces Senior Leadership Team Changes
