Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SuperVeloce Revealed In Geneva
Geneva, Switzerland - March 6, 2015 - The Lamborghini Aventador has had several years on the market to break necks - both of passersbys and of drivers engaging Corsa mode - but now it's getting an even more extreme variant: the Aventador LP 750-4 SuperVeloce, or SV. With much more aggressive aerodynamics, a blazing red paint job, and 750 metric horsepower (hence the LP 750-4 title) from a 6.5-liter V-12, the Aventador SV is the latest track-honed weapon Lamborghini will offer to its patrons. That's borne out in the numbers, hitting 62 mph in just 2.8 seconds - about a tenth quicker than the standard Aventador. Top speed is still claimed to be somewhere in excess of 217 mph.

2015 Geneva Motor Show: Ferrari 488 GTB
Geneva, Switzerland - March 6, 2015 - As with most shows, Ferrari's stand at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show was one of the busiest. The Prancing Horse's star this year is the 488 GTB, the mid-cycle update for the 458 Italia and the latest of the Italian marque's models to adopt a turbocharged powerplant. In developing the car, Ferrari drew extensively on its experience in both Formula One and endurance racing, as well as from its XX program. This can be seen in the incredible output generated from the 488 GTB's new twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V-8, as well as in the sophisticated dynamic vehicle controls that make the engine's performance controllable - even when at the limit. Peak output registers at 660 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. Ferrari quotes a 0-62 mph time of just 3.0 seconds and a top speed in excess of 205 mph.

ESA experimental the IXV spaceplane completes research flight
The European Space Agency (ESA) - February 11, 2015 - An experimental vehicle to develop an autonomous European reentry capability for future reusable space transportation has completed its mission. ESA's Intermediate eXperimental Vehicle flew a flawless reentry and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean just west of the Galapagos islands. The IXV spaceplane lifted off at 13:40 GMT (14:40 CET, 10:40 local time) on 11 February from Europe's Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana atop a Vega rocket. It separated from Vega at an altitude of 348 km and continued up to 413 km. Reentering from this suborbital path, it recorded a vast amount of data from more than 300 advanced and conventional sensors. As it descended, the five-metre-long, two-tonne craft manoeuvred to decelerate from hypersonic to supersonic speed. The entry speed of 7.5 km/s at an altitude of 120 km created the same conditions as those for a vehicle returning from low Earth orbit. IXV glided through the atmosphere before parachutes deployed to slow the descent further for a safe splashdown in the Pacific Ocean.
