Google: Doing more on diversity
Mountain View, Calif., USA - May 05, 2015 - When we released the composition of our workforce almost a year ago, it confirmed what many people suspected: the tech industry needs to do a lot more when it comes to diversity. Since then, the question I get asked most is - so what are you doing about it? You may have heard about some of the work we've been doing: embedding engineers at Historically Black Colleges and Universities; partnering with Hollywood to inspire girls to pursue careers in computer science; building local initiatives to introduce coding to high school students from diverse communities; and expanding our employee unconscious bias training. But these programs represent only a sampling of all the work that is going on behind the scenes. If we're really going to make an impact, we need a holistic plan. Today, we want to share our diversity strategy, which is focused on four key areas: Hire diverse Googlers, Foster a fair and inclusive culture, Expand the pool of technologists, Bridge the digital divide.

Fujitsu has developed a technology that automatically identifies business logic in the program code, and one that quantifies the complexity of business logic using a numerical index derived from the number of branches and other factors. This makes it possible to visualize business logic with simple analysis of application assets. This technology can reduce the time required to analyze business applications, which ordinarily takes considerable effort, and help companies quickly make improvements or add new features in response to changing business conditions.

As a co-founder, Gordon paved the path for Intel to make the ever faster, smaller, more affordable transistors that drive our modern tools and toys. Even 50 years later, the lasting impact and benefits are felt in many ways.

GE To Create Simpler, More Valuable Industrial Company By Selling Most GE Capital Assets More Than USD 90 Billion
Fairfield, Conn., USA - April 10, 2015 - GE (NYSE:GE) today announced that it will create a simpler, more valuable company by reducing the size of its financial businesses through the sale of most GE Capital assets and by focusing on continued investment and growth in its world-class industrial businesses. GE and its Board of Directors have determined that market conditions are favorable to pursue disposition of most GE Capital assets over the next 24 months except the financing "verticals" that relate to GE's industrial businesses. As part of the execution of this new plan, GE announced today an agreement to sell the bulk of the assets of GE Capital Real Estate to funds managed by Blackstone. Wells Fargo will acquire a portion of the performing loans at closing. In total, these transactions are valued at approximately USD26.5 billion.
