Mercedes-Benz launches celebrity-studded SUV campaign: At home in every terrain
Stuttgart, Germany - August 21, 2015 - Mercedes-Benz is launching a visually stunning, celebrity-studded storytelling campaign to spotlight its SUV family, which is being completely revamped this year and expanded to include six models. The campaign is to accompany the market launch of the new GLE, GLE Coupé and GLC vehicles. The campaign aims to accentuate this under the overriding claim "At home in every terrain". Each vehicle is therefore shown as part of the family group. While different landscapes in the print motifs emphasise the character of the different models, the TV ad shows the world of each SUV in conjunction with a celebrity ambassador.

General Ray Odierno Appointed Senior Advisor To JPMorgan Chase & Co.
New York, USA - August 20, 2015 - JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) announced the appointment of retired four-star General Raymond T. Odierno, former Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, to a senior advisory capacity at the firm, effective September 1st. ("PCC") (NYSE: PCP) have unanimously approved a definitive agreement for Berkshire Hathaway to acquire, for USD235 per share in cash, all outstanding PCC shares. The transaction is valued at approximately USD37.2 billion, including outstanding PCC net debt. Precision Castparts is the world leader in structural investment castings, forged components, and airfoil castings for aircraft engines and industrial gas turbines. Airbus, Boeing, GE, Rolls-Royce, and many other leading manufacturers depend on us for critical airframe, engine, power generation, medical, and general industrial components. With few exceptions, every aircraft in the sky flies with parts made by PCC. Geoff Colvin: What Really Makes Teams Work
LinkedIn - August 08, 2015 - Despite what you might think, as information technology has grown more powerful and influential, the importance of human groups - as distinct from indi-viduals - in creating knowledge has increased enormously. The trend is starkly clear in a massive study of 20 million research papers in 252 fields within science and engineering, the social sciences, and the arts and humanities over 50 years, plus 2 million patents of all kinds over 30 years. In nearly 100 percent of the fields, more research is being done by teams, and the teams are getting bigger. The trend is so broad that it has apparently become self-reinforcing: As teams increasingly produce higher quality work than individuals, individuals become less likely to match it and thus more likely to become part of teams striving to pro-duce even better work. The result is that humans working in groups are more crucial to the success of organizations (and whole economies), and the ability to work in groups is more crucial to the success of individuals.

Warszawa, 03 sierpnia 2015 - "Przedstawiciele elit intelektualnych, artystycznych, naukowych, a także menedżerskich i biznesowych rzadko i niechętnie uczestniczą w sprawowaniu realnej władzy. Uniwersytety powinny dać społeczeństwu nie to, czego ono chce, tylko to, czego potrzebuje. A społeczeństwo potrzebuje elit. Żadne współczesne społeczeństwo nie może istnieć bez rozległej sieci i hierarchii organizacji, które muszą być stabilnie i fachowo kierowane. Szkolnictwo wyższe powinno zatem dostarczyć elit zdolnych do pełnienia tych funkcji. Elity muszą być kształtowane na elitarnych uczelniach. Wymaga to przezwyciężenia w społecznościach akademickich syndromu 'polskiego piekła'. Na rynku usług edukacyjnych i badań powinny być zapewnione równe warunki konkurowania: przez jakość edukacji i badań oraz siłę marki. W warunkach globalizacji jest to konkurencja międzynarodowa. Polska ma w tym zakresie wielkie zaległości do nadrobienia, także dlatego, że nasz kraj nie kojarzy się z wysoką jakością kształcenia i wysokim poziomem badań naukowych. Airbus Defence and Space to build JUICE spacecraft, ESA's next life-tracker inside the Solar System
Airbus Group - July 20, 2015 - The European Space Agency (ESA) has selected Airbus Defence and Space, the world's second largest space company, as the prime contractor to develop and build the JUICE (JUpiter ICy moons Explorer) spacecraft. JUICE is the first large mission of the ESA Cosmic Vision programme, with a launch date in 2022. JUICE is the first European mission to Jupiter; its overarching theme is the emergence of habitable worlds around gas giants. JUICE will investigate the Jupiter system, with a focus on its icy moons and the possibly ocean-bearing worlds of Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. The mission will study the moons addressing two key themes: what are the conditions for planet formation and the emergence of life. Airbus Defence and Space is prime contractor for the JUICE spacecraft, building-on the expertise developed on their sites in Toulouse (France), Friedrichshafen (Germany), Stevenage (UK) and Madrid (Spain).

Boeing's 10th GPS IIF to Modernize Worldwide GPS System
Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla., USA - July 15, 2015 - The 10th Boeing (NYSE: BA) GPS IIF satellite has reached orbit and sent its first signals after being launched earlier today. This satellite advances the U.S. Air Force's modernization program for GPS, improving accuracy and enhancing security for the navigation system used by millions of people around the world every day. The Boeing-built GPS IIFs are the newest generation of GPS satellites, delivering a longer design life, greater accuracy, increased signal power for civil applications, a more robust military M-code signal and variable power for better jamming resistance. BMW Group and TOTAL will take forward the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles
Munich, Germany - July 16, 2015 - It is now possible to drive by fuel cell-powered car all the way from southern Germany to Lake Garda in Italy. The opening of the hydrogen station in Munich's Detmoldstrasse completes the European HyFIVE project's South Cluster, which comprises Stuttgart, Munich, Innsbruck and Bolsano. Since fuel cell electric vehicles are particularly suited to longer-distance trips, they are the ideal complement to the BMW i models, and to the future plug-in hybrid production models from the BMW brand, which will be based on the already proven eDrive technology. The fuel cell converts the gaseous hydrogen in the vehicle's fuel tank into electricity and water. Since the high-voltage battery only serves as a power buffer, a much smaller and lighter battery can be used than on a battery-electric vehicle.

IBM Research Alliance Produces Industry's First 7nm Node Test Chips
Albany, N.Y., USA - July 09, 2015 - An alliance led by IBM Research (NYSE:IBM) today announced that it has produced the semiconductor industry's first 7nm (nanometer) node test chips with functioning transistors. The breakthrough, accomplished in partnership with GLOBALFOUNDRIES and Samsung at SUNY Polytechnic Institute's Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (SUNY Poly CNSE), could result in the ability to place more than 20 billion tiny switches - transistors - on the fingernail-sized chips that power everything from smartphones to spacecraft. To achieve the higher performance, lower power and scaling benefits promised by 7nm technology, researchers had to bypass conventional semiconductor manufacturing approaches. Among the novel processes and techniques pioneered by the IBM Research alliance were a number of industry-first innovations, most notably Silicon Germanium (SiGe) channel transistors and Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) lithography integration at multiple levels.
