Professor Adam Grant: I asked Larry Page, Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey how they felt starting their companies. Their answers caught me off guard.
LinkedIn - February 05, 2016 - Throughout history, the great originals have been the ones who failed the most, because they were the ones who tried the most. Most of Thomas Edison's 1,093 patents went nowhere; Picasso had to produce over 20,000 pieces of art to make a few masterpieces. We see the same trend with entrepreneurs. Before Uber, Travis Kalanick's first startup declared bankruptcy. Oprah Winfrey was fired from her job as a reporter. Steve Jobs flopped with the Apple Lisa and got forced out of his own company before making his triumphant return - and even after the iPod succeeded, he made a bad bet on the Segway personal transporter. And with all of Richard Branson's success in airlines, trains, music, and mobile, he has also presided over the failure of Virgin cola, cars, and wedding dresses. So take it from this group of elite failures. If at first you don't succeed, you'll know you're aiming high enough.

Microsoft research project puts cloud in ocean for the first time
Microsoft News Center Staff - February 01, 2016 - The technology to put sealed vessels underwater with computers inside isn't new. In fact, it was one Microsoft employee's experience serving on submarines that carry sophisticated equipment that got the ball rolling on this project. But Microsoft researchers do believe this is the first time a datacenter has been deployed below the ocean's surface. Going under water could solve several problems by introducing a new power source, greatly reducing cooling costs, closing the distance to connected populations and making it easier and faster to set up datacenters.

Siemens sets new performance and efficiency world records at Düsseldorf power plant "Fortuna"
Munich and Erlangen, Germany - January 28, 2016 - The "Fortuna" combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant at the Lausward location in the port of Düsseldorf was successfully handed over to the customer and operator, the Stadtwerke Düsseldorf public utility company, on January 22, 2016. The power plant has broken three world records: in the acceptance test a maximum electrical net output of 603.8 megawatts (MW) was achieved and the net energy conversion efficiency was around 61.5 percent. In addition, "Fortuna" can also deliver up to around 300 MW for the district heating system of the city of Düsseldorf - a further international peak value for a power plant equipped with only one gas and steam turbine. This increases the overall efficiency of natural gas as a fuel to 85 percent. The heart of the "Fortuna" CCGT power plant is the extremely powerful SGT5-8000H gas turbine from Siemens. Highly efficient and flexible CCGT power plants ideally complement renewable energy sources such as the wind and the sun, which are subject to fluctuations in their power outputs.

Lockheed Martin: Wchodzimy do Polski na długo
Warszawa - 01 lutego 2016 - Fabryka w Mielcu to obecnie największa poza Ameryką Północną fabryka należąca do koncernu Lockheed Martin. - powiedział Stephen F. O'Bryan, Wiceprezes ds. Strategii i Rozwoju Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training, w wywiadzie dla dziennika "Rzeczpospolita".

Dlatego należy szerzej stosować instrumenty wsparcia w postaci kredytów i poręczeń eksportowych, zachęt podatkowych do inwestowania w badania i rozwój itd." - stwierdził Pan Mateusz Morawiecki, Wicepremier i Minister Rozwoju RP.
