Siemens employees can charge electric vehicles for free
Munich, Germany - December 27, 2016 - Beginning in 2017, Siemens employees at as many as 100 of the company's locations in Germany can "fill up" their electric vehicles free of charge. This will apply not only to all-electric vehicles but also to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. For this service, Siemens will use its existing network of charging stations, which it is expanding with normal and high-speed charging stations. To reduce their carbon footprint, the charging points will supply electricity only from renewable energy sources. The electricity and the use of the charging stations will be free in 2017.

Toyota Launches the New C-HR
Toyota City, Japan - December 14, 2016 - Toyota developed and launched the new C-HR at all Toyota, Toyopet, Toyota Corolla, and Nets dealers nationwide across Japan on December 14. The C-HR is also scheduled to be used as a management vehicle at the 93rd Tokyo-Hakone collegiate ekiden (relay marathon) championship on January 2 and 3, 2017. The C-HR is the second vehicle that has been developed with the TNGA platform. Modern technologies and world-class solutions - GE and Lufthansa Technik have chosen Poland as the location for their new investment
GE Newsroom - December 8, 2016 - Lufthansa Technik and GE selected the Legnica Special Economic Zone in Sroda Slaska, Poland as the site for its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) joint venture for GEnx-2B and GE9X engines. The location was announced today at a joint press conference with Bernhard Krueger-Sprengel, senior vice president of Engine Services at Lufthansa Technik, and Bill Millhaem, senior executive at GE Aviation, in the presence of Mateusz Morawiecki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development and Finance for Poland. The joint venture, called XEOS, will invest about $267 million (USD) in the new facility. Ground breaking on the 350,000 square foot facility will begin in the Spring 2017, and the facility will open in September 2018 with capability to repair GEnx-2B engines that power the Boeing 747-8 aircraft. MRO capabilities for the GE9X, which powers the Boeing 777X aircraft, will be available in 2021. Employment will begin at about 220 and grow to about 500 employees at full capacity.

Toyota Motor Corp. Announces the Launch of its New Free Smartphone Navigation App, the TC Smartphone Navigation
Toyota City, Japan - December 1, 2016 - Toyota Motor Corporation announces the launch of the TC Smartphone Navigation, a new smartphone navigation app available from December 1. Toyota has been providing T-Probe traffic information - Toyota's proprietary traffic congestion information based on big data collected from vehicles equipped with on-board data communication modules (DCM) - on the paid T-Connect smartphone app which suggests routes to avoid traffic congestion (2,500 yen annually). At the same time, the route history map which helps to support relief activities in the event of a disaster has been made available on Toyota's website free-of-charge. This feature is also based on information collected from big data, and displays the vehicle's route history. The route history map is also compatible with smartphones.

Part-Time Scientists and Audi lunar quattro ready to head for the Moon
Berlin/Ingolstadt, Germany - November 29, 2016 - It has shed eight kilograms in weight, while also gaining Audi e-tron power: Following extensive tests the "Audi lunar quattro" rover is ready to tackle one of the most difficult terrains of all in exploring the Moon. HMD Global enters the market to bring new Nokia branded phones to consumers
Espoo, Finland - December 1, 2016 - A new and exciting chapter in the story of Nokia branded phones begins today as HMD Global Oy (HMD) - the new home of Nokia phones enters the market. Finnish company HMD will bring a new generation of mobile phones to consumers, with the first smartphone products set to be launched in the first half of 2017, alongside the existing Nokia branded feature phone business. BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen Group with Audi & Porsche Plan a Joint Venture for Ultra-Fast, High-Power Charging Along Major Highways in Europe
Cologne and Stuttgart, Germany - November 29, 2016 - BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create the highest-powered charging network in Europe. The goal is the quick build-up of a sizable number of stations in order to enable long-range travel for battery electric vehicle drivers. This will be an important step towards facilitating mass-market BEV adoption. The projected ultra-fast high-powered charging network with power levels up to 350 kW will be significantly faster than the most powerful charging system deployed today. The build-up is planned to start in 2017. An initial target of about 400 sites in Europe is planned. By 2020 the customers should have access to thousands of high-powered charging points.
