Prof. Andrzej K. Koźmiński: Nowy pragmatyzm kontra nowy nacjonalizm

How Facebook Uses Data Analytics To Understand Your Posts And Recognize Your Face
LinkedIn - January 26, 2017 - With 1.2 billion people uploading 136,000 photos and updating their status 293,000 times per minute, until recently Facebook could only hope to draw value from a tiny fraction of its unstructured data - information which isn't easily quantified and put into rows and tables for computer analysis. Facebook uses a DL application called DeepFace to teach it to recognize people in photos. It says that its most advanced image recognition tool is more successful than humans in recognizing whether two different images are of the same person or not - with DeepFace scoring a 97% success rate compared to humans with 96%. Facebook is a strong supporter of Open Source and makes most of the work of its AI labs Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR) freely available for anyone to use or modify however they like. Most of Facebook's Deep Learning is built on the Torch platform, a development environment focused on the development of deep learning technologies and neural networks.

BlackRock: Larry Fink's annual letter to CEOs. I write on behalf of our clients...
New York, NY, USA - January 24, 2017 - Many companies responded by publicly disclosing detailed plans, including robust processes for board involvement. These plans provided shareholders with an opportunity to evaluate a company's long-term strategy and the progress made in executing on it. Over the past 12 months, many of the assumptions on which those plans were based - including sustained low inflation and an expectation for continued globalization - have been upended. Brexit is reshaping Europe; upheaval in the Middle East is having global consequences; the U.S. is anticipating reflation, rising rates, and renewed growth; and President Trump's fiscal, tax and trade policies will further impact the economic landscape.

CES 2017: Microsoft Connected Vehicle Platform helps automakers transform cars
Redmond, Wash., and Las Vegas, NV, USA - January 5, 2017 - Today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, we announced the Microsoft Connected Vehicle Platform, a set of services built on the Microsoft Azure cloud and designed to empower auto manufacturers to create custom connected driving experiences. This is not an in-car operating system or a "finished product"; it's a living, agile platform that starts with the cloud as the foundation and aims to address five core scenarios that our partners have told us are key priorities: predictive maintenance, improved in-car productivity, advanced navigation, customer insights and help building autonomous driving capabilities. Microsoft's cloud will do the heavy lifting by ingesting huge volumes of sensor and usage data from connected vehicles, and then helping automakers apply that data in powerful ways. Our strength in building a global cloud at scale is the primary reason the Renault-Nissan Alliance chose to work with Microsoft, becoming the first auto manufacturer to commit to the Microsoft Connected Vehicle Platform.
