Daimler and Renault-Nissan expand scope of collaboration

U.S. Air Force Selects SAMSUNG Series 7 Slate as First Network Slate Tablet in Blanket Purchase Agreement For Bases Worldwide
Ridgefield Park, NJ, and Ashburn, VA, USA - September 26, 2012 - Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and Intelligent Decisions (ID), Inc., a recognized leader in federal IT solutions, announced today that the Samsung Series 7 Slate has been awarded the network slate tablet category contract under the U.S. Air Force (USAF) Client Computing and Servers blanket purchase agreement (BPA). Intelligent Decisions and Samsung Partner to Deliver Cutting-Edge Slate PC to U.S. Air Force. ID and Samsung are partnering to deliver the Samsung Series 7 Slate, which is the first device selected under the new network tablet category, available for deployment at USAF bases worldwide. The USAF has added the Samsung Series 7 Slate to the BPA effective immediately.

Virginia M. Rometty Elected IBM Chairman
Armonk, N.Y., USA - September 25, 2012 - The IBM (NYSE: IBM) board of directors today elected Virginia M. Rometty chairman of the board, effective October 1, 2012. Mrs. Rometty succeeds Samuel J. Palmisano, who is stepping down from the board effective October 1, 2012. Mr. Palmisano will become Senior Adviser to the company until he retires on December 1, 2012. As of October 1, 2012, Mrs. Rometty's title will be IBM chairman, president and chief executive officer.

Professor Agnieszka Zalewska elected President of CERN Council, is the first woman to fill this position
Geneva, Switzerland - September 20, 2012 - CERN Council today elected Professor Agnieszka Zalewska as its 21st President for a period of one year renewable twice, with a mandate starting on 1 January 2013. CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is the world's leading laboratory for particle physics. Professor Zalewska takes over from Michel Spiro who comes to the conclusion of his three-year term at the end of December. Agnieszka Zalewska is the first woman and the first Polish physicist to fill this position.

IBM Scientists First to Distinguish Individual Molecular Bonds
Zurich, Switzerland - September 14, 2012 - IBM (NYSE: IBM) scientists have been able to differentiate the chemical bonds in individual molecules for the first time using a technique known as noncontact atomic force microscopy (AFM). IBM Cloud to Deliver New Home Entertainment Services for Philips Smart TVs
Berlin, Germany - August 31, 2012 - IBM (NYSE: IBM) today unveiled a new cloud platform for consumer electronics firms and announced it will power the Philips Smart TV platform for Internet services, which will deliver greater interactive services to millions of TV viewers in more than 30 countries in Europe, as well as Brazil and Argentina. Today's announcement at the IFA consumer electronics event in Berlin provides IBM cloud services on a pay-per-use basis to TP Vision, an Amsterdam-based joint venture between Philips and TV manufacturer TPV responsible for the development of Philips Smart TV.
