GE Technology Powers New Agricultural Biogas Project in Poland
Warsaw, Poland - October 05, 2012 - Showcasing Poland's commitment to develop more renewable energy projects to reduce its dependence on coal, local officials yesterday celebrated the start-up of a new 1.99-megawatt agricultural biogas power plant north of the city of Rawa Mazowiecka in central Poland, 80 kilometers southwest of Warsaw. Two GE (NYSE: GE) ecomagination-qualified Jenbacher gas engines power the plant.

IBM Completes Acquisition of Texas Memory Systems
Armonk, N.Y., USA - October 01, 2012 - IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced it has completed its acquisition of Texas Memory Systems (TMS), a privately held company based in Houston, Texas. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. IBM announced on August 16, 2012, that it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire TMS, a leading developer of high-performance flash memory solutions.

Astrium: first provider of satellite communications to the European Defence Agency for EU MoDs
Brussels, Belgium - September 28, 2012 - Astrium, Europe's leading space company, has been awarded a three year contract by the European Defence Agency (EDA) to provide commercial satellite communications capacity for European military needs. This contract will be managed by the EDA's newly established procurement cell, the ESCPC (European Satellite Communications Procurement Cell). To date, five contributing member states -France, Italy, Poland, Romania and the United Kingdom - have decided to join the ESCPC to benefit from cost savings for their commercial satcoms needs.

Professor Agnieszka Zalewska elected President of CERN Council, is the first woman to fill this position
Geneva, Switzerland - September 20, 2012 - CERN Council today elected Professor Agnieszka Zalewska as its 21st President for a period of one year renewable twice, with a mandate starting on 1 January 2013. CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is the world's leading laboratory for particle physics. Professor Zalewska takes over from Michel Spiro who comes to the conclusion of his three-year term at the end of December. Agnieszka Zalewska is the first woman and the first Polish physicist to fill this position.
