President Barack Obama to Visit IBM'S P-TECH School in Brooklyn, NY, USA
Brooklyn, NY, USA - October 25, 2013 - President Barack Obama today will visit P-TECH, a school co-founded by IBM in Brooklyn, NY, and which is being replicated nationwide. IBM created Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) in 2011 through an innovative partnership with the New York City Department of Education, the City University of New York and the New York College of Technology. P-TECH is the first school in the U.S. to directly connect high school, college and career. Students in the six-year program, which spans grades 9 to 14, graduate with a no-cost Associate in Applied Science degree, along with the skills and knowledge they need to continue their studies or step seamlessly into well paying, high potential jobs in the Information Technology (IT) industry.

Samsung LNG Carriers Powered and Propelled by General Electric Power Conversion
Busan, Korea - October 24, 2013 - Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is one of the fastest growing energy markets worldwide, and global production capacity could be more than double by the end of the decade. Higher natural gas prices and growing efficiencies in the LNG value chain are making it economically attractive to ship LNG over long distances, transforming natural gas from a regional to a global market. GE's Power Conversion business (NYSE: GE) is working closely together as a partner with the Power & Control Systems division (PCSD) of Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). Power Conversion has been appointed to equip four LNG carriers to be built by SHI at its Geoje facility in South Korea.

Consortium of Siemens and Polish manufacturer Newag running now Inspiro metro trains in Warsaw worth EUR272 million
Warsaw, Poland and Berlin / Munich, Germany - October 07, 2013 - The new metro from Siemens for Poland's capital city Warsaw was put into operation yesterday. Warsaw's metro operator, Metro Warszawskie Sp. z o.o., has placed a EUR272 million order for 35 six-car metro trains with a consortium consisting of Siemens and Newag, the Polish rolling stock manufacturer. This is the biggest order ever for Siemens in Poland and also the first order for complete units of the new "Inspiro" metro generation. For Siemens, this also marks the start of first regular passenger transport with the new metro generation Inspiro. Two trains will now run in Warsaw. The city's mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz inaugurated it for passenger travel together with Jochen Eickholt, CEO of Siemens Rail Systems, as part of a maiden voyage on Line 1.
