Jeff Koons Presented US Debut of his BMW Art Car at Art Basel in Miami Beach, Florida, USA

Polish team won Programming Marathon24
Warsaw, Poland - December 02, 2013 - Over 1000 programmers from all over the world took part in the qualification round of the first edition of "Asseco Programming Marathon24 Gdynia 2013. Powered by CodiLime". The qualifying round was attended by engineers from the United States, Peru, Brazil, the UK, Switzerland, Croatia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, India, China and Sri Lanka. The grand finale of Asseco Programming Marathon24 Gdynia 2013 - Powered by CodiLime ended on December 01, 2013 in the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in Gdynia. The competition was attended by 30 teams from Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Iran, Austria, Serbia and even Japan. Contestants faced three complex problems within 24 hours, during which they competed with each other in the real time. The best turned out to be programmers from Poland: Eryk Kopczyński, Marcin Mucha and Paweł Parys, winning the grand prize of 5,000 PLN for each Participant and beating the opponents with experience on the international level.

EU domestic shale gas production could add a million jobs, new study shows
Brussels, Belgium - November 25, 2013 - The research, commissioned by OGP and carried out by the independent consultancies Poyry Management Consulting and Cambridge Econometrics, has quantified for the first time how much Europe's economy could benefit from domestic shale gas production. Shale gas could add a total of 1.7 trillion to 3.8 trillion euros to the economy between 2020 and 2050. The development of shale gas in Europe could add as many as one million jobs to the economy, make industry more competitive and decrease the region's dependence on energy imports, according to a new study released today.

San Leon Energy to announce the successful execution of the vertical hydraulic fracture stimulations in Poland
Dublin, London and Warsaw, Poland - November 26, 2013 - San Leon is pleased to announce the successful execution of the vertical hydraulic fracture stimulations of the two planned intervals in the Lewino-1G2 well on its 221,000 acre (894 km2) Gdansk W Concession in Poland's northern Baltic Basin. Slickwater frack of the upper zone is believed to have achieved all of the technical targets of the frack redesign. Well has improved ability to recover treatment water compared with the July frack. Gas was continually flared for the duration of the initial clean-up period. Flow test to take place following removal of lower frack isolation plug, well completion installation and clean-up of stimulation water. A re-frack of the lower zone was pumped using 8,300 barrels of fluid and 76,000 lb of 40/70-mesh ceramic propant.

Warszawa - 22 listopada 2013 - "Przepowiadanie wielkich katastrof, szczególnie tych o globalnym zasięgu, zawsze znajdowało szeroki posłuch. Tak też jest z wieloma wypowiedziami dotyczącymi konsekwencji postępujących zmian klimatu. Według ostatniego raportu proklimatycznej organizacji IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) grożący nam wzrost temperatury był dotąd znacznie przeszacowany, a obecne oceny zmniejszają prawdopodobieństwo jego katastroficznych następstw. Nie mówiąc nawet o tym, że w ostatnich 15 latach globalne ocieplenie zatrzymało się całkowicie. Zamiast straszyć wyolbrzymionymi konsekwencjami globalnego ocieplenia, prowadźmy dalsze badania nad naturą zachodzących procesów klimatycznych, brońmy się przed doraźnymi skutkami anomalii pogodowych i myślmy o wdrażaniu nowych niskoemisyjnych technologii." - apeluje prof. dr hab. inż. Michał Kleiber, prezes Polskiej Akademii Nauk.
