Big Idea 2014 By Jeff Immelt: The Age of Gas
Fairfield, Connecticut, USA - December 23, 2013 - Natural gas has been important to human progress since the beginning of the industrial age, but it could never hope to overtake oil and coal given the competitive advantages those fuels possessed. Until now. It is the dawn of the age of gas and 2014 will be a defining year. There are only a few certainties in this world, one of them is we will always need more energy tomorrow than we have today. We have to find it from a greater array of sources than we have in the past. And right now gas is positioned to be the most viable solution to the world's ever-rising energy demand. Technological innovations have made possible the production of unconventional gas and the expansion of diverse networks connecting supply and demand on an unprecedented scale.

Big Idea 2014 By Jim Kim: Invest in People
Washington D.C., USA - December 13, 2013 - One of the great privileges of my job is that I have the opportunity to talk with leaders from throughout the developing world about the most fundamental aspects of their economies. Almost without exception, they ask me about formulas that will help them create business environments that will lead to good-paying jobs. They ask me about other countries that succeeded, and given my connection to South Korea, many ask me about how they achieved their economic "miracle". The roots of the Korean success story are complex but many observers believe that the government's willingness to invest in people, even before many thought they could afford to, was one of the keys. Countries can invest in their people in many ways, such as providing quality health care. In Turkey, for example, health indicators a decade ago ranked behind most other European and middle-income countries.

Big Idea 2014 By Michael Andrew: A Global Glimpse Into the Future
Hong Kong, China - December 11, 2013 - One of the things I am often asked by clients and people from within KPMG is what the big trends affecting business over the coming twelve months will be. While it is never easy to predict with certainty what is likely to happen, I believe that as business prepares for 2014 there are some trends that will impact global growth and which business should be ready for. Over the last year, we've seen a lot of change. I've already written on LinkedIn about China's reform agenda, which will continue to be watched with great interest, and of course the continuing emergence of new economies. Looking beyond these ongoing issues, I see ten big trends for 2014, which I've summarised below (in no particularly order of significance): Shale Gas Revolution, Industrialisation of the Internet, QE Tapering, Free Trade Chess, Big Data, Infrastructure Revolution.

Big Idea 2014: When A Big Idea is The Big Idea...
New York, USA - December 10, 2013 - Most of us assume globalization and increasing digital penetration means the era of big winners is gone forever. But the evidence suggests otherwise. Paradoxically, the comfortable balanced approach may no longer hedge risk effectively in such an interconnected world. (Hey, didn't everything in my investment portfolio go down together during the last crash?). Rather, with perspective, and the insight I gleaned from the Elberse book, it seems to me that we are moving into an era where less may be more; where a big idea is actually the big idea. Now go out and put that lens to work re-examining your business model and basic mission as a company. You'll be surprised by what you see.

Big Ideas 2014 By Richard Branson: The Year of the Entrepreneur
Virgin Islands (British) - December 11, 2013 - 2014 will be a year of many big ideas, because it will be the year of the entrepreneur. This year has seen the growing trend of entrepreneurship being embraced as a positive way to create the jobs of the present and the future. From being a dirty word in the past, now entrepreneurship is increasingly being celebrated and encouraged - as it should be. There has been a surge in the excitement surrounding start-ups, from Silicon Valley to Silicon Roundabout and beyond. Many internet start-ups came to fruition, and big businesses went public, creating enormous wealth for their founders. That generation are now setting up new businesses, helping to create more jobs and stimulate more innovation.

2013 Business School Dean of the Year
LinkedIn - December 28, 2013 - Transformation is an overused word. It is pulled out of the dictionary to describe some pretty ordinary things. But that is not the case for either Roger Martin or the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management. In the 15 years that Martin led Rotman, he utterly transformed the institution from a small, irrelevant Canadian B-school to a legitimate global player. More tellingly, much of the transformation can be chalked up to Martin's force of will, his formidable intellect, and his bold and often provocative decisions that have indisputably made Rotman the best business school in Canada.

Wśród celów strategicznych główny i niepodważalny cel to przetrwanie narodu." - pisze prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Rybiński, Rektor Akademii Finansów i Biznesu Vistula w Warszawie.
