Jim DeLuca to Lead GM Global Manufacturing
Detroit, USA - January 24, 2014 - Jim DeLuca will become Executive Vice President of General Motors Global Manufacturing on February 1, succeeding Tim Lee, who is retiring April 1 after a nearly 45-year career that included key positions in manufacturing, manufacturing engineering and global operations. DeLuca is currently Vice President of Manufacturing for GM International Operations. GM China President Matt Tsien will continue to lead operations in the world's largest automotive market. In addition to leading global manufacturing, Lee was Chairman of GM China.

Apple Expands Worldwide Access to Educational Content

Thomas Kennedy will succeed William Swanson as the Chief Executive Officer of Raytheon Company
Waltham, Mass., USA - January 15, 2014 - Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) announced today that its Board of Directors has elected Dr. Thomas A. Kennedy, age 58, to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of Raytheon Company, effective March 31, 2014. Dr. Kennedy will succeed William H. Swanson, who has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Raytheon Company since 2003, and who advised the Board of his intention to step down from his position as Chief Executive Officer in March, following his 65th birthday next month. This change in Company leadership was undertaken as part of the Board's orderly leadership transition planning process. After March, Swanson will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors while the Company completes the transition to the new Chief Executive Officer. The Raytheon Board of Directors also elected Dr. Kennedy to serve on the Raytheon Company Board of Directors, effective January 15, 2014.

CE Industry Revenues to Reach Record High of $208 Billion in 2014, According to CEA Sales and Forecast Report

Znamienne było dla mnie to, że na międzynarodowej naukowej konferencji w Kioto, kilkaset kilometrów od stolicy, głównym mówcą był premier kraju, podkreślający w swym wystąpieniu z olbrzymim zaangażowaniem znaczenie sektora wiedzy (edukacja, nauka, innowacje) dla przyszłości kraju. Nie przypominam sobie, aby w naszym kraju kiedykolwiek nastąpiła podobna sytuacja. Dosłownie na każdym kroku w Japonii widać zaangażowanie w rozwijanie i wdrażanie nowych technologii. Myśląc o przyszłości Europy, warto więc przejechać się po dalekim świecie, bo to znacznie bardziej pouczające niż wysłuchiwanie głosów wielu wąsko myślących Europejczyków, budujących z zapałem przeszkody na drodze naszego szybkiego rozwoju." - apeluje prof. dr hab. inż. Michał Kleiber, prezes Polskiej Akademii Nauk.

After two days of competition, DARPA selected eight teams to receive up to $1 million in funding to continue their work.
