GE's Energy Investing Unit Exceeds $10 Billion Renewable Energy Milestone, Generating Clean Power, Jobs
Stamford, Conn., USA - April 24, 2014 - GE Energy Financial Services announced today it has exceeded USD 10 billion in renewable energy investment commitments worldwide to become one of the industry's leading investors. The projects generate twice the electricity consumed in Los Angeles annually, avoid greenhouse gases equivalent to the annual car emissions in Massachusetts, and create an estimated 10,000 US jobs. GE Energy Financial Services expects it will continue to invest more than USD 1 billion annually in wind, solar, and other renewable energy projects, its fastest-growing energy sector and one that often facilitates sales of GE's energy technology.

Volkswagen Group starts electro-mobility campaign in China. EUR 18.2 Billion will be invested up to 2018
Wolfsburg, Germany / Beijing, China - April 19, 2014 - The initiative gets underway with the launch this year of the Volkswagen brand's electric up! and e-Golf models. While the Porsche Panamera S E-hybrid is already in the showrooms in China, the Group will be launching two further innovative plug-in hybrid vehicles there next year with the Audi A3 e-tron and the Golf GTE. Starting in 2016, this will be followed by two models developed specially for the Chinese market: These are the Audi A6 and a new mid-size limousine from the Volkswagen brand, both plug-in hybrids which are being developed together with the joint venture partners FAW Volkswagen and Shanghai Volkswagen and will be produced locally. Furthermore, the Bentley Hybrid Concept opens a window on the broad-ranging potential of hybrid technology. Leszek Balcerowicz from Poland Named Recipient of 2014 Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty

Rolls-Royce awarded $100 million contract to service US Navy T-45 trainer aircraft engine
London, England - April 9, 2014 - Rolls-Royce has been awarded a Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) contract valued at over USD 100 million by the US Department of Defense to provide continued support for the F405 (Adour) engines that power the US Navy's T-45 training aircraft. The follow-on, one-year contract will continue the successful support which has provided the US Navy's training fleet with guaranteed availability over the past ten years. In addition to powering the T-45 Goshawk and other military aircraft, the Adour engine will also power the Hawk AJTS aircraft, which is a contender for the US Air Force T-X trainer program.

Vodafone acquires 100% of Vodafone India for GBP 1.0 billion
Newbury, Berkshire, England - April 11, 2014 - Vodafone announces that it now owns 100% of its Indian subsidiary, Vodafone India Limited (VIL). In March 2014, Vodafone completed the acquisition of indirect equity interests in VIL held by Analjit Singh and Neelu Analjit Singh, taking its stake to 89.03% of VIL. Today Vodafone acquired the remaining 10.97% of VIL from Piramal Enterprises Limited. The combined cash consideration for both transactions was INR 101.418 billion (GBP 1.0 billion).

Nowy klimat w europejskiej debacie o energetyce
Warszawa - 12 kwietnia 2014 - Z danych Eurostatu za rok 2012 wynika, że kraje UE (z jedynym wyjątkiem Danii) są uzależnione od importu surowców energetycznych i energii aż w 53,3 proc. Polska, z poziomem 30,7 proc. zależności energetycznej, jest wśród państw najmniej zależnych. Mniejszy stopień zależności mają tylko Czechy (25,2 proc.), Estonia (17,2 proc.), Rumunia (22,7 proc.) i Szwecja (28,7 proc.). Największe unijne gospodarki są znacznie bardziej uzależnione od importu surowców energetycznych: Niemcy (61,1 proc.), Francja (48,1 proc.) i Wielka Brytania (42,2 proc.). Są także kraje niemal całkowicie uzależnione energetycznie, jak Włochy (80,8 proc.), Belgia (74 proc.) i Hiszpania (73,3 proc.). Kraje o stosunkowo niskim poziomie energetycznego uzależnienia od importu bazują na swoich naturalnych paliwach kopalnych (Czechy, Estonia, Rumunia). Szwedzkim naturalnym zasobem są elektrownie wodne. Dania korzysta z własnych zasobów ropy naftowej i gazu ziemnego. Jeśli chcemy ograniczyć import gazu i ropy, a jednocześnie nie możemy oprzeć energetyki na OZE i energetyce jądrowej, to naturalnym rozwiązaniem jest sięgnięcie po własne zasoby paliw kopalnych. Państwa UE posiadają ich całkiem sporo.

U.S. Air Force Satellite Launched Today Will Improve Weather Prediction By Lockheed Martin
Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., USA - April 3, 2014 - A Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) satellite built by Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) was successfully launched today at 7:46 a.m. from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. atop an Atlas V rocket. Lockheed Martin confirmed signal acquisition shortly after launch. DMSP-19 is the fourth Block 5D-3 version to be launched, and Lockheed Martin has produced more than 40 satellites throughout the program's 50-year history. Many of the satellites are performing beyond their design life, so adding on-orbit capability is important for reliable weather information.

Pan Katsuyuki Kambara przyleciał do Polski w 1971 roku jako przedstawiciel japońskiego koncernu Nichimen. 'Uzasadnione jest dokonanie korekty polityki europejskiej, bo dziś już wiemy, że tak głębokie cofnięcie się w rozwoju przemysłu było błędem, który UE musi teraz naprawić. Ceny energii już decydują i nadal będą decydowały o przyszłości - mówiąc o współpracy gospodarczej i przemysłowej, musimy zmierzyć się z pytaniem, co zrobić, by energia w Europie była tańsza, by nie drożała z każdym rokiem. Zwracam uwagę także na konkurencję ze strony Azji, która z Europą konkuruje nie tylko tańszą siłą roboczą, lecz także skuteczniejszą polityką przemysłową. Europejska polityka energetyczno-klimatyczna musi być w coraz mniejszym stopniu przeszkodą, a w coraz większym stopniu motorem rozwoju gospodarczego i rozwoju przemysłu." - powiedział Bronisław Komorowski, Prezydent RP.
