From autonomous vehicles and electric cars, to iconic supercars and full-size trucks, the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) has something for everyone at the Public Show, opening Saturday, January 14.

Visitors will get up-close-and-personal with hundreds of vehicles, including industry-shaping entries that debuted at Press Preview.

Now in its 29th year as an international event, the NAIAS is among the most prestigious auto shows in the world, providing unparalleled access to the automotive products, technologies, people and ideas that matter most – up close and in one place.

Vice President Joe Biden joined in that conversation with a visit to NAIAS on Tuesday – his second to NAIAS as Vice President of the United States.

Public Show hours are:

Saturday, January 14 – Saturday, Jan. 21
9 a.m. – 10 p.m. (no admittance after 9 p.m.)

Sunday, January 22
9 a.m. – 7 p.m. (no admittance after 6 p.m.)

Early access for handicapped individuals 8 a.m. each day
(Enter at the Hall C Entrance only.)

As the largest annual single-night fundraiser in the world, Charity Preview has raised more than $111 million for southeastern Michigan children’s charities since the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) established the gala 41 years ago.

Prior to attending NAIAS, attendees are encouraged to view and download the Official NAIAS app presented by the Detroit Auto Dealers Association, WDIV Local 4 and ClickOnDetroit.com.

Detroit’s celebration as the epicenter of all things automotive, including the heart of the automotive industry, was again demonstrated tonight as nearly $5.2 million was raised for children’s charities at the 2017 North American International Auto Show’s (NAIAS) Charity Preview at Cobo Center.

As the largest annual single-night fundraiser in the world, Charity Preview has raised more than $111 million for southeastern Michigan children’s charities since the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) established the gala 41 years ago.

In all, 12,881 people attended the black-tie Charity Preview, presented for the second consecutive year by Axalta Coating Systems.

Charity Preview follows on the heels of five days of total mobility immersion at NAIAS, including the inaugural AutoMobili-D that continues to generate social media buzz and discussion among automotive, business and tech industry executives worldwide.

Vice President Joe Biden joined in that conversation with a visit to NAIAS on Tuesday – his second to NAIAS as Vice President of the United States.

“The past five days at NAIAS have exemplified the transformation that is reshaping the auto industry as we know it,” said 2017 NAIAS Chairman Sam Slaughter.
“Tonight’s Charity Preview continues with the theme of transformation in that the monies raised in this one single night will help in some way to transform the lives of children and families in our local community.”

Proceeds from Charity Preview directly benefit a wide range of children’s charities.
Funds raised will support services for children of all ages from birth to 18
.

WXYZ-TV Channel 7, the Official Television Partner of NAIAS Charity Preview, will broadcast its “Red Carpet Charity Preview” special live on Friday, Jan. 13, beginning at 7 p.m. Channel 7 Action News anchors Stephen Clark and Carolyn Clifford will host the program, along with JoAnne Purtan, Glenda Lewis, Brad Galli, Alicia Smith, Malcom Maddox, Keenan Smith and Ann Marie LaFlamme.

The 90-minute special will feature the latest in automotive technology, style trends and a look at the vehicles that attracted the most attention during Press Preview.
An encore presentation of “Red Carpet Charity Preview,” will air on Sat., Jan. 14 at 8:30 a.m.

In addition, WXYZ ‘s “Cars Are Stars” will take a look at the latest trends in automotive safety and style and include a preview of what to see at this year’s show.
The half-hour special will air Sat., Jan. 14 at 7:30 p.m. with an encore presentation on Sun., Jan. 15 at 11:30 a.m.

Auto show news coverage on WXYZ-TV Channel 7 Action News and WMYD-TV20 will continue during the Public Show.

Channel 7 Family Day returns to the NAIAS on Friday, January 20.

NAIAS hosted over 125 auto tech students and instructors today at Tech Trek, a show event designed to encourage auto technicians of tomorrow.

Drawing the top tech students from 16 area high schools, Tech Trek was the perfect complement to Industry Preview’s showcase of mobility and technology.
