Barcelona, Spain - February 27, 2015 - Starting on 2 March the Mobile World Centre will be offering a special program, coinciding with the Mobile World Congress, revealing the last mobile technology innovations to citizens. Over the first two weeks of March, nine manufacturers will present the latest innovations in tablets, smartphones and wearables by Samsung, Sony, Microsoft, LG, HTC, Alcatel, Huawei, ZTE and Motorola. The MMIX is a brand-new series of events at this year's Mobile World Congress, bringing together a host of industry-leading CEOs and ecosystem players from the music, entertainment and mobile industries. The MMIX represents a collaboration between global music marketing specialists Popshop, leading brand experience agency Momentum Worldwide and the GSMA, the organisation representing mobile operators worldwide and organiser of the Mobile World Congress.

The MMIX (Mobile.Music.Innovation.eXperience) is a brand-new series of events at this year’s Mobile World Congress, bringing together a host of industry-leading CEOs and ecosystem players from the music, entertainment and mobile industries.

Barcelona, Spain - February 27, 2015

Mobile World Centre exposes citizens to the latest Mobile World Congress developments


Nine manufacturers will present their latest smartphone, tablet and wearable innovations.

Mobile World Capital Barcelona will present “Connected beings,” an exhibit illustrating the application of the Internet of Things to citizens' daily lives.

Industry experts will discuss mobile technologies and innovation in an extensive line-up of talks that are open to the public and free of charge
.

Starting on 2 March the Mobile World Centre will be offering a special program, coinciding with the Mobile World Congress, revealing the last mobile technology innovations to citizens.

Over the first two weeks of March, nine manufacturers will present a selection of new developments that they will simultaneously be placing on display at the Mobile World Congress.

Through the “Mobile World Centre, a window to the Congress” initiative, Telefónica and Mobile World Capital Barcelona will allow citizens to attend the congress, where they will be able to experience in person the latest innovations in tablets, smartphones and wearables by Samsung, Sony, Microsoft, LG, HTC, Alcatel, Huawei, ZTE and Motorola.

The companies will have exclusive exhibition areas on the ground floor of the Mobile World Centre, and their own promoters will be on hand to explain their products' features to citizens.

These specialists will also conduct technological tests to share the innovative features of their mobile devices.

Moreover, Mobile World Centre will be holding a drawing to give away nine devices to visitors.


Talks to delve into the mobile world

Floor 2 of the Mobile World Centre will host talks and discussions addressing the transformation spawned by mobile technologies.

On Tuesday 3 March the Mobile World Centre will host one of the two "Health & Wellness" days organised by MWCB's mHealth team
.

These days are the only specific event planned on "mobile health" on the Mobile World Congress agenda.

The program will also feature a special edition of the 5Talks series, centring on the mobile world.

Di-Ann Eisnor (Waze), Elies Campo
(entrepreneur, formerly with WhatsApp), Pedro Diezma (expert in wearable devices), Gonzalo Martín-Villa (Telefónica Product Innovation) and Gina Tost (co-founder of Geenapp and an expert in digital trends) will discuss the latest trends in mobile technology and its potential to promote social change.


Connected beings, or how technology makes us better

On Monday 2 March "Connected beings", the new Mobile World Centre lecture series that examines connected life and the value of shared information, will also get underway.

Organised by Mobile World Capital Barcelona, the exhibit on the 1st floor will offer a look at the applications and all the potential connectivity boasts when applied to people's day-to-day lives, homes and transport systems.

The exhibit's installations will include a scale model of Barcelona
constructed with LEGO blocks and featuring elements and sensors characteristic of the smart city; an indoor garden equipped with sensors and devices that render its plants self-sufficient; different areas to educate attendees on the challenges posed by technological ultra-connectivity; an area for them to experience new materials featuring built-in conductive nanotechnology; and a visual installation symbolising the traffic and speed of today's information.

The series will also include an audio-visual selection incorporating interactive content
.

Through documentaries, animated features and videos, visitors will learn all about the cornerstones and key aspects of the Internet of Things.

Designed as a forum for leading figures across mobile, technology, music and content, The MMIX kicks off at Mobile World Congress on Monday, 2nd March with a high-powered CEO panel exploring the topical issues and challenges of driving, distributing, monetising and growing mobile consumption of entertainment content.

BILLBOARD: Will.i.am, Rudimental To Join Music-Centric MMIX At Mobile World Congress.
Mobile World Congress in Barcelona - the largest gathering of mobile-marketing professionals, with 72,000 attendees in 2014 alone - is taking a musical approach to this year's confab.
Beginning March 2, branding agency Momentum Worldwide and the GSMA (Groupe Special Mobile Association) will present the first MMIX (Mobile.Music.Innovation.eXperience), three days of programming dedicated to the intersection of music, mobile, content and technology.

The MMIX continues with the official MWC15 Party on the night of Tuesday 3rd March, with performances by platinum-selling artists Rudimental headlining with a DJ set, and international DJ and dance music legend Roger Sanchez, among other artists.


The MMIX party will be held at the Italian Pavilion at Fira Montjuïc and tickets, which are in high demand, are available for purchase at www.themmix.com now.

The MMIX debate continues on Wednesday, 4th March with the dedicated four-session MMIX Forum as part of the 4 Years From Now (4YFN) event, which is devoted to innovation in the digital and mobile ecosystem.

The MMIX Forum
will explore the current landscape for music content, new and disruptive business models and innovation in the recorded and live music sectors, in both mature and emerging markets.

The MMIX Forum speakers include executives and experts from streaming platforms Deezer, Hungama, Psonar, Rdio, Rightster and Spotify; mobile operators Deutsche Telekom, Digicel, Smart Communications and VimpelCom; and others, including music festivals Sonar and The Great Escape, specialist music app developers BioBeats and Eskimo, and label and dance venue owner Ministry of Sound.

The MMIX Forum sessions will be chaired by industry leaders including Paul Brindley, co-founder and CEO of renowned music consultancy Music Ally.
