The 2014 Paris Motor Show - Cars and Fashion exhibition 2014.10.04

Paris, France - October 04-19, 2014 - The exhibition sequence will follow the timeline of the great eras which have left their mark both on the history of Automobiles and of Fashion from the end of the Industrial Revolution up until now. Fifty vehicles, symbols of their generations, will be presented : from the first Panhard and Ford T, associated with the glory days of theBelle époque, to the stars of the Concours d'élégance of the Twenties and Thirties and their legendary bodywork (Voisin Aérosport, Renault Nerva Grand Sport); from post-war icons (Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, Jaguar XK 120, Facel Vega HK II, Citroën DS19, ...) to those of Pop Art years (Citroën Méhari, Renault 4L La Parisienne, Matra 530 SONIA Delaunay, Alfa Roméo Montréal, Toyota 2000 GT...), not forgetting the Eighties and Nineties representing the "Performance years" (the Peugeot 205 GTI and Citroën GTI Turbo). Our contemporary era expresses a closer proximity between both worlds, as shown by the sensuous character of the concept-cars Renault DeZir and Peugeot HX1 which collaborated in its conception with the shoe designer Pierre Hardy.

Courrèges
: Coqueline Courrèges’s passion for electric cars started in the Sixties and continued to fuel her imagination.

In 2000 she created several prototypes pre-empting the main players of the industry by the level of performance reached in terms of speed, weight, autonomy, manufacturing techniques, etc; all those features rewarded for their results.

This exhibition provides the rare opportunity of bringing together 3 models: the Bulle, the Zooop and the Pixi created in 2010 and presented to the public for the first time during the 2014 Paris Motor Show.

The presentation of the Matra Bagheera, co-signed in 1974, will show another example of the link between Courrèges and the Automobile world.

Three unique creations will thus be designed and presented exclusively, inspired by the elegant personality of the shapes, color codes and material of these masterpieces of Automobile History.

Crémieux
: Formerly Daniel Crémieux, but now Crémieux or Crémieux38, is a ready-to wear brand mainly for men.

It was created in 1976 by its eponymous founder and was inspired by the “preppy” style, the casual chic fashion worn by the students of Ivy League universities in the Fifties.

The revisited Sixties college style with a French twist (details, combinations of material and patterns…) The Crémieux collections take their inspiration in the culture of Cinema, Art, travels, automobiles, architecture…

It became a classic twenty years later with the release of the movie Love Story.

In a specific area, Crémieux will present some of the masterpieces of its collections.

THE FASHION TABLEAUX-VIVANTS OF THE LATE-NIGHT OPENINGS WITH HOUSE OF DRAMA

Thursday 9, Friday 10, Thursday 16 and Friday 17 October 2014

From 8 pm to 10 pm

The Automobile and Fashion exhibition-Pavilion 8

With the support of l’Exception – www.lexception.com

House of Drama is a Parisian collective of artists, stylists, performers, dancers and choreographers, expressing themselves through tableaux vivants (living pictures).

They bring their talent to staging, sometimes decorating and costume design.

All year long they accompany Fashion designers in their presentations, music artists in their video clips or their shows (for example the band La Femme during the last Victoires de la Musique, the French Music Awards).

They also supply content for public events (Club le Baron in Cannes) or private happenings (luxury brands and sportswear).

They are renowned for their perfect master of Fashion codes (whether in composing silhouettes or gesture, or in posture and attitude) covering all ages, from the most historic to the most contemporary.

Each late-night opening, the House of Drama will move around by groups of 4 models who will place themselves near a choice of car models to prolong their stylistic world.

The postures will relate to real movie scenes in some cases, to pictures from famous Fashion magazines in others.

The look will be a perfect mix of designer clothing from the latest collections, a carefully chosen vintage selection and the special creation of clothes and accessories by Aymeric Bergada du Cadet, the stylist and designer of the group.

The themes will allow age crossing. It will be interesting to understand the legacy of a generation on the creative inspiration of another a few decades later.

L’Exception is an online concept-store specialized in the sale of clothes by French independent designers. It supports the Fashion events of the late-night openings of the Show by providing key pieces referenced on its site.

One theme for each late-night opening

THURSDAY 9 OCTOBER : CONCOURS D’ÉLÉGANCE

A Focus on the Belle Epoque with its S silhouettes and wide hats.

The Twenties will give pride of place to the evening gowns inspired by the Fashion Houses of the time, such as Jeanne Lanvin or Jean Patou, next to the Renault Nerva or the Voisin Aérosport.

The Fifties will revisit the New Look or the Chanel suit beside the Mercedes-Benz 300SL and the Jaguar XK120.

FRIDAY 10 OCTOBER : Futuristic Fashion

Futuristic Fashion will cover the different concept-car areas.

The silhouettes embodied by Courrèges or Pierre Cardin to accompany the Sixties/ Seventies racing cars will be mirrored in the conceptual clothes of contemporary designers associated to the Renault DeZir, the Citroën Survolt or the Peugeot HX1.

THURSDAY 16 OCTOBER: CHIC ELEGANCE AND PROVOCATION

We will try to understand the links which can be established between the Thirties and its Garçonnes and Dandies and the Seventies with its chic and provocative silhouettes inspired by Saint Laurent-Rive Gauche or Italian designers such as Walter Albini.

FRIDAY 17 OCTOBER: POP CULTURE

The daily life and the Rock of the Fifties, the Swinging London of the Sixties, the Hippies of the Seventies up to the street looks of the Eighties influenced by pop stars such as Madonna or Eurythmics.
