Volkswagen AG - July 20, 2018 - Volkswagen made motorsport history at the 2018 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 24th. At the wheel of the 500-kW (670 horsepower), fully-electric I.D. R Pikes Peak, Romain Dumas defeated cars powered by conventional drivetrain technology. The 40-year-old's time of 7:57.148 minutes not only smashed the previous record for electric cars, but also bested the all-time record set in 2013 by Sébastien Loeb by 16.730 seconds.

Intercept Sets Distance Record for Lockheed Martin's Hit-to-Kill Patriot Advanced Capability PAC-3 MSE
Dallas, USA - July 26, 2018 - A Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) interceptor successfully intercepted an Air-Breathing Threat (ABT) in a test at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. The test marked the furthest distance a PAC-3 MSE missile has intercepted an ABT, which represents fixed-wing aircraft or cruise missiles.

ESA: New satellite launch extends Galileo's global reach
Kourou, French Guiana - July 25, 2018 - Four more Galileo satellites were launched today by an Ariane 5. Their arrival in orbit brings the Galileo constellation to 26 satellites, extending the global coverage of the constellation. Ariane 5 flight VA244, operated by Arianespace under contract to ESA, lifted off from Europe's Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, at 11:25 GMT (13:25 CEST, 08:25 local time), carrying Galileo satellites 23-26. The first pair of 715 kg satellites was released almost 3 hours 36 minutes after liftoff, while the second pair separated 20 minutes later.
